Prairie Land staff believes that education is a cornerstone of a healthy and flourishing future and is committed to providing responsive, inclusive programming for all students. Students in Grades 7-12 who experience moderate delays in various areas, such as mild and moderate cognitive delays, and who require extra support in daily activities can access Prairie Land’s Life Skills Programming within their school communities. These programs are developed closely with parents, teachers and the school-based Inclusive Education Lead to ensure the goals align with each student’s unique interests, needs, and future. Life Skills programs help students engage with their peers, make connections with their communities, and develop meaningful fundamental skills and independence.
Life Skills programs align with the Alberta Education programs of study and pursue specific and individualized goals for everyday living. At the completion of their program, students may be eligible to receive a Certificate of School Completion.
