2023-2024 Budget Guiding Principles and Allocation Parameters
The 2023-2024 Budget Guiding Principles and Allocation Parameters were approved by the Board. These documents guide both priorities and methods of allocating resources to ensure our students receive educational services that support the Three-Year Plan. Ongoing development of the 2023-2024 budget will occur over the following two months with final approval by the Board at the end of May.
Three Year Capital Plan
The Board passed a motion to approve the 2023-2026 Three-year Capital Plan and concurrently the most pressing structural needs throughout the division within our facilities. The Youngstown School building envelope and partial modernization upgrade is the Board’s first priority and submission for consideration. The Veteran School partial modernization has been recognized as the second priority, and the Altario School partial modernization has been recognized as the third priority. The fourth priority is for the Consort School for the expansion of the CTS shop and the fifth priority is for the expansion of the automotive CTS shop for J.C. Charyk Hanna School.
Wind River Colony
The Board of Trustees passed a motion to develop a school code for new Wind River Colony which will be operational in the 2023-2024 school year. An existing Prairie Land colony will be splitting to form the new Wind River Colony.
Sports Clinics
Prairie Land continues to hold sports clinics throughout the division. In March, clinics for badminton, sports psychology and an athletic first aid were held in Youngstown and Delia Schools.
Future Changes to Board Agendas
Starting in May 2023 the Board Agenda format will be changing. Committee reports will be removed and trustees will be submitting reports online. Action items will be placed on the agenda. The in-camera session will be held first in the meetings.
